Bailey Arboretum
Bailey Arboretum boats of more than 50 acres of nature trails, guided walks for children, educational programs and special events. Of special note is its sensory garden designed for the physically challenged.
Hours: Open from mid-April through November from 9am-9pm Tuesday through Sunday.

Long Island Cradle of Aviation
The aviation museum proudly displays more than 100 years of Long Island’s aviation history filled with many interactive exhibits. There’s a replica of the famous “Spirit of St. Louis,” which took off less than a mile from the site of the museum. Also, make sure to visit Aerospace Park, packed with military aircraft, missiles, and a very-rare, original Apollo lunar module.
There’s also an IMAX Theater on premises showing current nature and scientific films.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
This is the famous DNA Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. It’s a research facility focused on the cure for Cancer, neuroscience and plant biology. There’s the Dolan DNA Center, open to the public, is the worlds first science center devoted to genetics education.

Cold Spring Harbord Fish Hatchery
The Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery houses the largest collection of fresh water turtle, fish, and amphibians in the Northeast. There are many educational programs, exhibits and activities all year round.

Long Island Children's Museum
It’s an interactive circus of exhibits that gives families a chance to explore science and learn things together. The museum has more than a dozen 12 hands-on exhibits. The museum always has workshops, films, and live performances available.
Hours: Open every day from 10am-5pm during the summer. From September through June, open from Tuesday through Sunday 10am-5pm.

Old Bethpage Village Restoration
Take a “time machine” at Nassau’s County Old Bethpage Village. Restoration. It’s a replica of an old Long Island colonial farm village. 209-acres are home to 51 historic structures and almost a dozen reconstructions. Make sure to visit during the Old Bethpage Village Restoration County Fair, held every fall.
Hours: Open Wednesday through Friday 10am-4pm, and Saturday and Sunday 10am- 5pm.

Nassau County Museum of Art
Another glorious Gold Coast Mansion is home to The Nassau County Museum of Art. More than 600 works of art representing 19th and 20th century European and American artists are shown. The museum always changes their featured exhibitions. Children can enjoy their own Children’s Art Museum that contains a fun Alice in Wonderland- exhibition with a giant chessboard.

Saddle Rock Grist Mill
More than 300 years old, the Saddle Rock Grist Mill has been restored to the way it looked in the 1800’s. It is one of the very few remaining tidal mills left in America. The mill overlooks the quant Little Neck Bay.
